Meneer Weller, die van The Jam, speelt aanstaande donderdag in De Melkweg en omdat het altijd aardig is een beetje te weten wat je te wachten staat zocht ik afgelopen weekend naar een recente setlist.
Zoals zo vaak vond ik ook iets anders. Een interview met Weller waar ook het internet, Facebook en dat soort dingen voorbij kwamen.
Nu kun je je natuurlijk afvragen of de mening van iemand die je in het geheel niet kent er toe doet.
Maar ach, Seth Godin ken ik verder ook niet
The new album's title track contains the exhortation: "Get your face off the Facebook and turn off your phone." Hewitt (schrijver van een biografie over Weller) claims Weller once asked him outside for a fight because he spoke up in favour of the internet. So is he grumpy old man, or groovy old man? "I can see some of the benefits of modern technology," he admits. "I can edit my tracks at the touch of a button now, which is incredible. But there's lots of bullshit, too. It's strange that people my age spend all evening on Facebook talking to their 'friends'. Why not go down the pub? A guy once came up to me at a gig and asked me if I had MySpace. I said, 'This is my space, and you're invading it.'"
